About Kyra
Kyra Spira writes and speaks about self-knowledge as the end of suffering and the beginning of peace.
Kyra Spira, Ph.D., has spent her career exploring the nature of self and awareness. She earned her master’s degree in Mind, Brain and Education at Harvard University, where she studied ego development through the lenses of neuroscience, cognitive science and developmental psychology. She went on to complete a Ph.D. in the Learning Sciences at Stanford University, where she researched the social and cultural dimensions of ego in the American educational system. This gave her a complete picture of human development and how psychological suffering is caused by the identification with ego.
After completing her doctorate, Kyra taught at Stanford University before leaving academia to pursue her interest in the ancient philosophy of non-duality. This brought her into conversation with Francis Lucille and Rupert Spira, who were instrumental in pointing to the nature of reality. She often jokes that this was her true education. She also deeply benefited from the teachings of Dr. Jason Quintal, a trauma specialist, and Dr. Becca Kennedy, an expert in chronic illness and neuroplastic conditions.
Now she writes and speaks about the nature of reality, consciousness and healing. She is dedicated to ending suffering through self-knowledge.
