About Kyra

Kyra Spira writes and speaks about non-duality, consciousness and the source of lasting peace.

Kyra Spira writes and speaks about self-knowledge as the end of suffering and the beginning of peace.

Kyra Spira, Ph.D., has spent her career studying the root cause of human suffering—first in the academy, and later in the contemplative wisdom traditions. She holds a master's degree in Mind, Brain and Education from Harvard University, where she studied ego development through the lenses of neuroscience, cognitive science and developmental psychology. She went on to complete a Ph.D. in the Learning Sciences at Stanford University, researching how American culture reinforces the myth of the separate self—and its consequent suffering—through the American educational system.

After completing her doctorate, she taught at Stanford before leaving academia to pursue the ancient philosophy of non-duality. This brought her into conversations with Rupert Spira and Francis Lucille, who were instrumental in pointing to the nature of reality. She often feels that this was her true education. Kyra also deeply benefited from the work of Dr. Jason Quintal, a trauma specialist, and Dr. Becca Kennedy, an expert in chronic illness and mind-body medicine.

Her work weaves intellectual rigor with direct experience, offering a personally-tailored path that meets you exactly where you are—and gently walks with you, step-by-step, back home.

Kyra lives in Devon UK with her husband, Rupert Spira, a baby rabbit, a pheasant, two squirrels and lots of birds and cows.
