Essence
A Bespoke Private Program On the Direct Path to Peace
Essence is a series of private conversations to explore your essential self and discover its inherently peaceful and loving nature.
The Approach
The program is shaped entirely around you.
Together, we find the right rhythm of weekly sessions and daily check-ins, over the length of time that best suits you. We begin wherever you are and walk home together. The process looks different for everyone, but tends to move through three phases.
Exploring Your Essence
Then, we explore the nature of consciousness. Is consciousness itself suffering, or does suffering belong to thought and feelings? Can you find any limitations to consciousness itself, or do limitations belong to the contents of consciousness?
Recognizing Your Essence
First, we shift the focus of your attention from outward to inward. We allow your attention to relax back to its source, the background of experience. There, you taste your essence: pure consciousness, that which knows your experience.
Expressing Your Essence
Finally, you let your essence shine—allowing the peace and love of your true nature to infuse everything you think, feel and do. There is no one right way to do this. Your essence expresses itself in a way that is quintessentially you.
Do not seek to follow in the footsteps of the wise.
Seek what they sought.
— Matsuo Bashō
Designing Your Program
Before starting your program, we have an initial conversation to design your program around two elements: private sessions and daily touchpoints.
Private Sessions
An hour of unwavering attention to your direct experience. Sessions are conversational, and can include a brief guided meditation or experiential inquiry. Recorded and yours to keep.
£600/month
Daily Touchpoints
Text and voice memos to keep us connected. You share your experience—whether caught in a difficult feeling or enjoying the quiet of an ordinary morning. I respond with a voice memo.
£450/month

About Kyra
Kyra Spira has spent her life studying the nature of consciousness and the root of human suffering—first in academia, then in the contemplative traditions. She holds a master's in Mind, Brain and Education from Harvard and a Ph.D. in the Learning Sciences from Stanford.
She taught at Stanford before leaving academia to pursue her interest in the ancient philosophy of non-duality. This brought her into conversations with Rupert Spira and Francis Lucille, who helped her find the place within that has never been wounded. She often feels that this was her true education.
Kyra now works privately with a small number of people drawn to the direct path to peace. She lives in Devon with her husband, Rupert Spira, where they spend their days writing, tending the garden and enjoying the beauty of nature.
